It has been 138 days since our last post. Did you miss us? Wonder if we’d up and moved away from all things electronic? Wonder what’s going on in our lives?
There is MUCH going on in our lives.
Gary graduated (yay Gary!) and is on the job hunt. Sadie got a promotion at work (yay Sadie!). We got a kitten, Eleanor. We celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary. We celebrated life….and continue to do so.
Summer has been pretty good so far. The humidity that hit Maryland in July was overwhelming for Gary (and the rest of us) but he toughed it out. Humidity makes him dizzy, nauseated, and exacerbates his symptoms – especially in his leg. We’ve been on a few vacations and we learned that we are no longer beach people. We were never really beach people, but the heat prevents us from staying out to long. You know how a day on the beach can wipe you out and you want to go to bed at 6pm or take a nap or never wake up the next morning? Multiply that a few times, and that’s what kind of impact the heat has on Gary’s fatigue. Yuck.
But it’s not all bad Gary was just saying that he thinks this summer was less bad than last summer which is great. He hasn’t had any major episodes that we’ve noticed in several months so that’s exciting too! He is beginning to feel a little numbness in his hands and in his right foot, but it’s only occasionally and only when he’s been in the heat a while. We go for the second set of MRI’s this fall so the doctor will be able to tell if Gary has any more lesions or if some have died off or shrunk, etc. We’ll see Dr. Rus in the late fall/early winter.
August marked one year since Gary has been on the medication and wouldn’t you know we had some complications with the insurance company? It’s ok, though, just gives me more incentive to fix that broken system as health care reform comes along.
Otherwise we are all good and enjoying life. Best to you all.
